Social
media usage is one of the most popular and powerful usages of the media. We all
use the media daily, but in this millennial age, most of us use social media,
even our parents or grandparents. I'm convinced that there wouldn't even be a
use for media if social media didn't exist, well correction the media would
still be essential, just a bit less interesting. 3.96 billion use social media
in the entire world. As of 2021, over 58% of people who this entire world are
active on social media every day. Social media and social websites are what
millennials like myself use daily, whether it be just to receive the latest
gossip, follow the news, or just expand or discover brands. This world would be
a bit dual without our social media.
The average social media daily usage
from users ranges from 145 minutes daily. The amount of media we consume daily
is hard to count in itself. According to research, Americans consume more media
than others across the world. As a mass communication major, media analyst, and
new business owner, I use social media and the media more than 5 times a day. My
daily routine with using the media and social media results in a lot of
promoting, learning, and of course posting.
I use social media for personal
reasons like scrolling and laughs as most millennials do in today’s society,
but I use social media to market my brand for the majority of my time. My brand
'Immense Beauty Lashes' has a Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat account. To
make things easier I use the app 'Business Suite' is an app connected to
businesses' pages on Facebook that allows owners and CEOs to expand their brand
and create a post that will automatically post on the business's Facebook and
Instagram page. Business Suite offers a way to plan and draft newsfeed that a
business or organization may have. I honestly am grateful for this app because
it has helped my business thrive on social media and it is very beneficial
simply because I can post on the app and everything I post will upload to my
Business’s Facebook and Instagram page.
There are many benefits of daily
media usage when it comes to marketing brands on social media. Marketing your
brand on social media can lead you to opportunities in the media from my
perspective. Imagine having a brand and promoting yourself consistently on
social media and the media world outside of social media sees it and gets a
hold of it. Many comedians, singers, business owners, and actresses have been
discovered on social media. Not all people are aware of the benefits of social
media marketing. About 50% of small businesses aren't using social media as the
free marketing tool it is.
Marketing a brand on social media
can make it easier for a small business to spread the word about their products
as well as move traffic to the brand’s website. I find social media to be a
great way for me to keep my consumers happy and provide great customer service.
In today’s society, customers expect certain brands or all brands to handle
their situations and answer questions through social media. Within the past
three months of starting my business, I have built meaningful and strong
communication skills by interacting with customers. What’s better than gaining
a free way to build your brand for free. From personal experience, social media
is how I launched and started my brand. Social websites are how I promote my
brand and update consumers and potential consumers about new products and
events.
Creating brand recognition is far
easier these days because we have social media. Social media can be used
effectively and properly. Business owners can use social media effectively by
doing less than 10 things. It's always important to plan and strategize,
consider who may or who may not be watching, always remember to be social on
social media, but professionally, dedicating just enough time to social media
but not too much time, and be creative. In my most recent media presentation, I
shared how I use social media and the media to enhance and expand my brand. I
plan what I'm going to post daily the night before I post, I also plan when to
announce and showcase new products. When considering who may or may not be
watching I tag loyal customers first and then random people on my friend's list
who may become potential customers. Though I dedicate most of my time on social
media to my business, I also am social by posting funny memes that can relate
to the product I sell as well as being socially active with consumers. Being
creative on social media can result in posting something that is created on an
android, iPhone, or laptop. I use the app 'Postermaker' to create sale posters,
which is another way I use the media daily.
We use the media because it plays a
part in our everyday life. It's often easier and more convenient to access the
information that is needed. For example, my professor post information his
students needs on Twitter for upcoming assignments and research purposes.
Things have been taken to a higher level when it comes to virtual influence and
social media is now considered as one of the top sources to know what is
happening in the world. Though virtual influence can be both positive and
negative through social media, individuals like myself like to focus on and use
the positive.
